Head of research
The Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA) is one of the largest divisions at Oslo University Hospital. It comprises eight departments, including the Department for Research and Innovation, which is exclusively dedicated to conducting and coordinating research in mental health and addiction. The remaining seven are clinical departments, each contributing to research with varying levels of activity. The division has over 15 research groups and publishes 250–300 scientific articles annually in peer-reviewed international journals. Its overarching strategic goal is to conduct high-quality translational research and clinical studies that advances our understanding of mental illnesses and leads to improved diagnostics and treatment. This ambition is pursued through a strong emphasis on innovation, the implementation of evidence-based practices, and the translation of new knowledge into clinical care. The division is also committed to integrating research as essential components of its clinical services including establishment of register that will be useful for research and quality control. A close collaboration with the University of Oslo underpins our research and teaching activities, ensuring a dynamic and mutually enriching partnership between clinical practice and research.
